The Syndrome of Non-voting… When the Majority Does Not Vote

December 5 2006 (Tuesday), 6.00 p.m. Red house

The Centre for Liberal Strategies, Open Society Institute – Sofia and The Red House Centre for Culture and Debate present a fifth event from the Cycle “The Spectre of People – the New Forms of Populism”:

The Syndrome of Non-voting… When the Majority Does Not Vote
A debate on the low turnout of the last presidential elections (October 2006) in Bulgaria - 62 percent of the votes were not realized. What do these 62 percent say when they do not vote for their president? What will happen if the “White Vote” has electoral weight? The White Vote - an alternative of the electoral system or a danger for the party-political system?

With the participation of Lidia Denkova (coordinator for Bulgaria of the European network of the “Vote Blanc”, www.vote-blanc.org) and Dimitar Dimitrov (political scientist, Sofia University)
Moderator: Boyan Znepolski
